science educators for equity, diversity, & Social justice |
SEEDS germinated in 2016, sprouting a community amid policy shifts that have attempted to erase or criminalize teaching about the societal and environmental injustices bound to the disciplines of science and STEM. Since then, we have grown and gathered (in person and virtually) to sharpen our political clarity and replenish one another with comradery and encouragement.
We will gather together October 10-13, 2025 in Philadelphia, PA to deepen our connections, draw strength from suppressed histories, and share wisdom, questions, tactics, and our learning so far as we work toward a reimagined science education through teaching, organizing, and researching. We invite proposals for sessions (including workshops, wonderings, and scholarship incubators) that help us reach back and connect the projects we're pursuing towards aims such as racial, linguistic, gender, dis/ability, environmental, or climate justice. Join us to make this road by walking it together.
